Australian International Furniture Exhibition

The City of Melbourne will transform into the design capital of Australia for a week in July as the Australian Furniture Association presents the Australian International Furniture Exhibition (AIFE).
This year, the world heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne will transform into the largest display home in Australia and will be open to the public from 11–13 July 2014 for an exhibition of Australian furniture for rooms around the world.
With a focus on the industry’s evolution, innovation and talent, each “showcase space” will feature Australian-made furniture and furnishings including flooring, wall and decorative elements. The showcases will demonstrate the practical use of new products and the design aesthetic for which Australian design is recognised internationally.
In addition, the exhibition will feature a curation of Australian furniture manufacturing and design, with pioneering manufacturers including Aristoc, Fler, Parker and Tessa, and leading designers such as Grant and Mary Featherston, Tony Parker, Dario Zoureff, Clement Meadmore, Charles Wilson and Ash Allen. The curation spans over 110 years and features key original work, from prototypes to production.
2014 Australian Furniture Industry Award (AFIA)-nominated pieces will also be on display, with a newly introduced People’s Choice Award category for which exhibition visitors can vote.
