Series 7 with colours in shape

In 1955, Arne Jacobsen set a new standard for chair design when he created Series 7™ – a long-lasting design icon. The most sold stackable chair in design history, the now iconic design is considered by many as one of the finest examples of timeless design. It has remained popular for six decades – a period of profound changes in technology, culture and lifestyle. Having now reached its 60th anniversary, Series 7™ is still in perfect shape to continue its journey towards new generations with new demands and new standards for design.

Danish artist Tal R is internationally celebrated for his profound sense of colour, so it makes sense that Fritz Hansen asked him to pick nine new colours for the chair to celebrate the milestone. The beautiful new colours revitalise the design and let us see the iconic chair in a new light. Moreover, he has chosen to use two of the colours on both base and seat shell, creating a fresh colour-blocking look.

Fritz Hansen’s approach to colours is associated with their choice of genuine materials that patina over time in a constant state of gradual transformation. Fritz Hansen appreciates this slow metamorphosis, which is reflected in the new colour range. Tal R has created nine artistic colours, all blends and all vibrant colours that change with the light, space and seasons. The result is a piece of furniture that will continue to live, surprise and inspire.
