Introducing the $750 million Macquarie Exchange

Macquarie Park is one of the most sought after postcodes in Sydney. Its growth and development thus far has been exponential.

The area is set to change with the announcement of Macquarie Exchange, Australia’s first Community Business District, a project valued at $750 million set for approval in August this year.

The project will be developed through collaboration between two of Australia’s most renowned property developers, Frasers Property Group and Winten Property Group and designed by renowned architecture firm Bates Smart.

The vibrant town square of the Macquarie Exchange will be located at the entrance to Macquarie Park’s new Metro Station. It will convert over 15,600 square metres into four innovative buildings comprising retail, business, dining and childcare that seamlessly integrate with intimate laneways, outdoor fitness and picnic spaces and over 2200 square metres of green space. What’s more, it will go beyond the minimum compliance standards for sustainability and environmental efficiency. It is proposed that upon completion over 7000 employees will work in the urban hub setting a new precedent for work environments outside the CBD.

As Australia’s first Community Business District, Macquarie Exchange will bring people together – workers and visitors alike. The project is intended to reinvent outdated corporate parks and become a hub for all with cafes, bars and fine dining dotting its city-style laneways. The precinct will be connected to the new Sydney Metro with trains arriving every 4 minutes.

Development Director at Winten Property Group, Stuart Vaughan, says, “The Macquarie Exchange site will provide significant public benefits through the provision of a new publicly accessible park, civic plaza and Metro station, multiple through site links and an activated retail precinct supported by A-Grade office spaces.”

Phillip Vivian, Director at Bates Smart, added that the project is designed to be “an authentic urban environment that is rich in human spaces.” It will be an urban plaza, pocket park, retail laneway and office spaces. He says, “A green heart acts as a focal point for leisure and work pursuits. This is where city and soul unite in a new kind of urban hub, where pieces of city making come together to create a rich urban experience.”

Development approval is expected in August.
