Los Angeles-based studio 22RE has revitalised the 1950s Culver City factory into a bespoke office space for Ceremony of Roses, a brand services and artist merchandising company.
Working in collaboration with Madeline Denley, creative director of Never Far Studios, 22RE reimagined the 7,000-square-foot (650-square-metre) area, achieving a unique blend of functionality and comfort across spaces designed to inspire top music creatives.
At the heart of the design is a standout “huddle room” – a meeting area styled as a 1970s sunken lounge. Low-slung, wraparound sofas upholstered in pale green mohair provide an inviting space for collaboration, with a custom aluminium table inspired by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer’s iconic designs. Above, a vintage Akari pendant by Isamu Noguchi casts a gentle glow, creating an ambient atmosphere that seamlessly integrates with the room’s retro design cues.
The communal workspace occupies a spacious, skylit central zone where exposed wooden ceiling rafters allow natural light to stream across custom aluminium desks and cabinets, paired with Eames Management chairs. This area flows into a white oak reception desk, contrasting with the industrial appeal of the raw concrete floors.
Throughout, materials such as titanium travertine and dark-stained white oak create a warm backdrop, from the executive offices outfitted with modernist French and Italian furnishings to the conference room’s burl wood table and Pierre Jeanneret chairs. The restrained palette continues in the kitchen, complete with a custom-designed matte aluminium dining table.
While much of the office design leans towards subtle earth tones, the listening room takes a bold turn, with rich chocolate brown walls, walnut panelling, and plush U-shaped seating, creating an immersive space for experiencing albums on vinyl. Here, acoustics were fine-tuned with angled ceilings that enhance sound quality, adding a functional dimension to the monochromatic design.
22RE’s design also introduces a striking departure in the bathrooms, where vibrant blue Japanese ceramic tiles contrast the office’s earthy tones. The result is an office that balances nostalgic design elements with modern functionality, setting a new standard for creative agency interiors.
