Seamless Elegance in Sofia Bathroom

Corian Design’s partner, manufacturer Soliform, has transformed the bathroom of a private apartment in Sofia, Bulgaria, using Corian Solid Surface panels to add “a touch of elegance”. Aiming to encapsulate “a sense of sophistication and tranquility”, the bathroom’s floors and walls were clad with 70-square-metres of Corian Solid Surface – a non-porous, versatile material developed by Corian Design.

The material is intended to offer both aesthetic and practical use. Corian panelling was also used for the bathroom’s custom vanity unit, which is fitted with a washbasin, towel rack and niches, allowing them to integrate into the space. The largely beige interior is offset by a white bathtub as well as grey-toned fixtures. Corian’s trademarked Solid Surface has cleaning and hygienic properties, and is popular in bathrooms because of its practical non-porous surface and inconspicuous joints.

“Unlike traditional stone materials that feel hard and cold, Corian Solid Surface is pleasant and smooth to the touch with its silk-like surface,” the company said.

“Corian is also the ideal durable choice for spaces with minimum impact on human health and the environment as it is free from harmful chemicals and can always be repaired.”

Sofia-based manufacturing company Soliform, which designed the bathroom, specialises in the design and fabrication of Corian Solid Surface products. “This bathroom is an epitome of elegance, and every detail was studied meticulously,” Soliform’s general manager Christian Kostov said.

“The seamless integration of this colour choice across the bathroom grants the space a visually cohesive and welcoming aura, accentuating a sense of comfort and refined aesthetics, adding a touch of elegance and precision to the overall composition,” Kostov added.

“This bathroom really shows how material selection and precise craftsmanship can merge functionality and refined aesthetics in a living space.”

A wall feature, consisting of a panel of Corian in the colour smoke drift prima backed by concealed lighting, emits a warm glow to add to the space’s ambience. Concealed lighting also illuminates the bathroom’s mirror. A 10-centimetre shadow gap, strategically placed from the floor with an overlap detail, is intended to serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. Corian said this design feature facilitates thermal expansion coming from the underfloor heating system.

“The solution was made possible thanks to the virtually endless flexibility provided by the material. We are fortunate to have the highly-valued technical know-how and long-time fabrication expertise of Soliform,” the company said.
