French Elegance Meets Contemporary Opulence at La Tête d’Or

Chef Daniel Boulud’s newest culinary venture, La Tête d’Or, brings a touch of Lyonnais charm to the bustling streets of New York. Located at One Madison Avenue and overlooking Madison Square Park, the restaurant’s design by the acclaimed Rockwell Group masterfully blends classic French brasserie aesthetics with contemporary opulence.

Nestled within the newly transformed office tower by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), the space serves as a luxurious retreat for the building’s tenants and the broader public alike.

The Rockwell Group drew inspiration from French brasseries and Boulud’s Lyonnais roots to craft an interior that celebrates both culinary artistry and refined design. Anchoring the space is an open kitchen with a striking wood-burning grill, connecting the craftsmanship of cuisine to its elegant surroundings. The interiors feature a palette of rich blues, dark marble, wood, and leather, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.

From the street, La Tête d’Or’s double-height glass façade glows warmly, framed by wood accents that invite passers-by into a world of elevated dining. A vestibule with Italian stone flooring, deep red walls, and custom amber glass light fixtures sets the tone for the experience, transitioning seamlessly into the host area. Here, curved red panels, a blue lacquered host stand, and a custom rug deliver understated luxury.

Beyond the entrance, guests encounter the bar, a standout feature with its quartzite countertop, copper tile accents, and blue leather stools. Port Laurent marble flooring, bronzed antique mirrors, and a wine display enhance the ambiance, while velvet armchairs and leather wall panels add texture and comfort.

The main dining area is an elegant blend of Art Deco influences and contemporary design. Walnut wood flooring, ebony parquetry, and silk-look upholstered walls create a harmonious setting. The open kitchen’s decorative hood, crafted in collaboration with Belgian artist Jesse Willems, serves as a striking centrepiece.

For more intimate occasions, the North Dining rooms and the Wagyu Room provide secluded options with custom furnishings and tailored details. A private dining area, accessible through a cocktail space, features floral murals, silk wallpaper, and views of the Met Life tower, further elevating the experience.

La Tête d’Or is more than a restaurant—it’s an immersive blend of gastronomy and design, inviting guests to savour the finer details of both.
