Polish architect Mateusz Baumiller has masterfully blended deep-pink walls, plush velvet furnishings, and warm wooden fixtures to infuse a sense of comfort into the industrial expanse of Clay.Warsaw, a creative office located in the heart of Warsaw.
Clay.Warsaw is housed within the historic confines of a former military warehouse dating back to the 1930s.
It was established by three dynamic production companies—Analog/Digital, Menu, and Photoby, and it now serves as a multifunctional workspace, studio, photography location, and event venue.
Baumiller, the local architect entrusted with the transformation of this imposing space, sought to preserve its distinctive loft character while infusing it with a “homely” ambiance. His vision for the project was to create a harmonious blend of the industrial and the inviting.
“The concept grew out of the founders’ many years of experience in creative production and follows their firm belief that an inspiring work environment is one of the keys to fruitful collaboration among their producers, artists and clients,” explained Baumiller. “For this reason, Clay.Warsaw breaks rigid studio and office conventions by merging functions with a warm and comfortable atmosphere, which fosters creativity, promotes innovation and encourages collaboration on a number of levels.”
A standout feature of Clay.Warsaw is the meticulous preservation and restoration of several original architectural elements. Among these are the distinctive checkerboard-tiled floor and the structural columns, which seamlessly integrate the building’s rich historical heritage with its contemporary use. The juxtaposition of these original features against the modern interior design creates a unique and captivating atmosphere.
The use of deep-pink walls and luxurious velvet furnishings adds a touch of elegance to the workspace. The warm wooden fixtures and furnishings further soften the industrial shell, creating an environment that encourages creativity and productivity. These design choices not only establish a visually striking contrast but also serve to enhance the overall comfort of the workspace.
The Clay.Warsaw project exemplifies the successful transformation of a historic, industrial space into a versatile and inviting work environment. Mateusz Baumiller’s architectural prowess, in conjunction with the commitment to preserving the building’s unique character, has resulted in an office space that seamlessly marries the old and the new. It stands as a testament to the creative potential of architectural design when it merges history with contemporary functionality.
