Among Australia’s national property award winners is a sustainable community in Sydney’s south west, an apartment development that capitalises on luxury and lifestyle, affordable housing in Perth and a retirement community in Sydney.
There were twenty awards available at the 2019 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.
Stockland’s Willowdale, a sustainable community located in Sydney’s booming south west, took home the EPM Projects Award for Best Master Planned Community. This project showcases energy efficient homes in an inclusive neighbourhood surrounded by 39 hectares of bushland and recreational parks with cycle paths.
Property Council’s Chief Executive, Ken Morrison says that the project’s innovative masterplan is “designed for people at all stages of life – from first home buyers and growing families to downsizers and retirees.” He adds, “Stockland offers flexibility and choice in everything from housing size to land lots, medium density townhomes and accessible retirement living. The result is a community that is inclusive, affordable and livable.”
Melbourne boutique developer Piccolo took out the Crown Group Award for Best Residential Development. Their Elwood House impressed judges for demonstrating how urban regeneration can deliver improvement in aesthetics and amenity within a suburban setting.
The Growthbuilt Award for Best Affordable Housing Development was presented to LandCorp & Now Living for Blackmore Park Estate. Located on the former Blackmore Primary School site in Perth’s northern suburbs the 72-lot residential community has allowed new opportunities for home ownership in an established suburb dominated by ageing housing stock and a high proportion of renters.
“The property industry is our nation’s largest, employing 1.4 million Australians and generating 13 per cent of our GDP. These awards are an important platform to applaud the people who are building great cities and communities for all Australians,” Mr Morrison concludes.
Award winners were announced on Friday 17 May at a gala dinner at the International Convention Centre.
