Parkline Place Completes Above Gadigal Station

The completion of Parkline Place marks a major milestone for Sydney’s skyline, with the 39-storey commercial tower now standing above the new Gadigal Station.
Developed by Oxford Properties Group (Oxford), Mitsubishi Estate Asia (MEA), and Investa, the project represents a seamless integration of transport and commercial infrastructure in the heart of the city.

Foster + Partners played a key role in ensuring an integrated approach to the design, collaborating closely with COX Architecture, Aurecon, and CPB Contractors. The result is a dynamic, highly connected workplace offering premium amenities alongside social spaces, retail, and dining options.

“Parkline Place is one of the best-connected office towers in Sydney, with a brand-new station directly below and enhanced pedestrian infrastructure around the base,” said Gerard Evenden, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners. “Located between the Central Business District and Midtown Precinct, this vibrant new destination provides highly flexible offices alongside an array of social spaces, shops, cafes, and restaurants.”

The tower is articulated into three distinctive vertical forms, featuring curved corner glazing and a central recess aligning with the Park Street entrance. The station’s entry is framed by a striking glass veil that bathes the concourse in natural light, while the tower’s Pitt Street entrance features a triple-height lobby with a strong vertical emphasis.

Designed with functionality and sustainability in mind, the tower’s flexible floorplates incorporate a central core with two banks of lifts, maximising uninterrupted views of surrounding parks and Sydney Harbour. The integration of interconnecting stairs, social hubs, and client meeting spaces fosters collaboration within office environments.

Environmental considerations have also been paramount. The tower’s south-facing primary elevation requires minimal sun shading, while the east and west façades feature raised sills and projecting shades to minimise heat gain while maximising park views. Parkline Place has achieved a WELL Platinum rating and a 6-Star Green Star rating (Design and As Built v1.3), demonstrating its commitment to sustainable building practices.

The development’s podium aligns with the heritage-listed buildings on Pitt and Castlereagh Streets, incorporating sandstone and bronze elements to harmonise with the surrounding architecture. Additionally, the over-station development model not only simplified construction but also helped subsidise the overall project cost, showcasing an economically sustainable approach to urban development.

Mark Tait, Head of Developments at Investa, expressed his pride in the project, stating, “The quality of anchor tenants moving into Parkline Place demonstrates the market appetite for well-designed, sustainable buildings that are well connected to transport and offer premium amenity.”

With its completion, Parkline Place establishes itself as a landmark of modern workplace design, reinforcing Sydney’s reputation as a global city that seamlessly blends transport, sustainability, and architectural excellence.
