Waterco founder Soon Sinn Goh given highest honour by SPASA NSW

Founder and chief executive officer of Waterco Ltd, Soon Sinn Goh, has been awarded an honourary Life Membership Achievement Award by SPASA NSW.

Announced at SPASA NSW’S AGM on Friday 25 February, the Life Membership Achievement Award acknowledges individuals for their outstanding contribution to the Australian swimming pool and spa industry.

SPASA NSW CEO Spiros Dassakis says honorary Life Membership is “the most prestigious award” to be given by the peak industry body.

“This award is a rare honour, not given lightly and is only presented to those whose achievements are viewed as extraordinary,” he explains.

“As founder of one of the most successful swimming pool and spa companies in Australia, and now internationally, Soon Sinn Goh’s early vision, expansion achievements and product diversification demonstrates his loyalty and passion for the industry.

“Despite Waterco’s international success, Soon Sinn’s commitment to the Australian market has not wavered over the years. As an ASX-listed company, and franchisor of Swimart, Waterco continues to have a positive impact within many diverse sectors of the industry. The company’s product innovation, specifically in relation to water sustainability and energy efficiency, keeps the industry ever moving forward.

“With this award, SPASA NSW acknowledges Soon Sinn’s exceptional contribution, not just in NSW, but to the industry Australia-wide. On behalf of the SPASA NSW Board of Directors, I would like to congratulate Soon Sinn on his lifetime achievements.”

A message from Spiros Dassakis

On behalf of the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of NSW (SPASA NSW), I would like to thank all exhibitors who participated in the 2011 Pool and Spa Expo.

The 2011 SPASA Pool & Spa Expo played host to 90 participants: presented 12 Consumer Seminars and distributed over 3500 SPASA Pool and Spa Essentials magazines over two days.

The Expo provided an excellent platform to showcase products and services directly to the public under one roof. Rosehill was packed full of feature displays, special show offers, and new releases from leading suppliers, plus many of Sydney’s award-winning pool, spa, and landscape designers. Also on display were the latest shade systems, gazebos, pool and spa heating systems, barbecues, outdoor furniture, outdoor tiles and pool/spa finishes and much, much more.

The introduction of the hipages “Roving Reporter” on the Expo floor provided exhibitors with yet another forum to showcase their products and services. These video clips have already been provided to participating exhibitors and are also accessible on YouTube.

SPASA NSW spent an enormous amount of resources co-ordinating and promoting the 2011 SPASA Pool & Spa Expo and I am happy to report that 4900 consumers attended the Expo, which represented a 10 per cent increase on the previous year.

The general consensus, after talking with many exhibitors, was that the level of genuine inquiry had surpassed expectations and that they were very satisfied with the leads generated.

Staging of the 2011 Pool and Spa Expo was the result of a great deal of enthusiasm, energy and sheer hard work behind the scenes from the SPASA Team as well as the events manager, Australasian Exhibition & Events.
SPASA NSW looks forward to welcoming everyone back in 2012.
