In a bold physical extension of its digital identity, ELLISON STUDIOS. has unveiled THE RENTAL 2.0—a fully immersive residential loft space nestled within the historic Edwards & Co. Ltd Building in Sydney.
The concept straddles the line between installation and living space, inviting guests to step inside a meticulously curated world that mirrors the brand’s striking visual storytelling on social media.
Occupying an entire floor of the 1926 landmark, THE RENTAL 2.0 reimagines the traditional showroom. It functions instead as a living, breathing brand experience—home to rotating iconic design pieces, event programming and an open invitation to connect with the studio’s growing creative community. Guests can expect everything from dinner parties to designer sleepovers, with the space acting as a modern-day share house for ELLISON STUDIOS.’ friends, collaborators and clients.
“As a design brand founded through the lens of social media, we’ve spent years sharing our creative vision digitally,” says Leigh McKeown, CEO and Co-Founder. “THE RENTAL presented an opportunity to bring that into the real world—deepening connections and creating a shared experience.”
The Edwards & Co. Ltd building, with its five-metre-high steel-framed windows and original hardwood floors, provides a richly layered backdrop. Once a tea warehouse and reportedly the venue for Baz Luhrmann’s wedding, the site’s adaptive reuse now ushers in a new chapter as ELLISON STUDIOS.’ collective home.
Anchoring the space is the FLOAT sofa in the brand’s signature Piccolo hue—its generous proportions and plush channeling evoking the 1970s conversation pit. Surrounding it is a playful curation of collectible design, from Noguchi’s Akari lights to Marcel Breuer’s Wassily chair, and works by emerging Australian and international artists.
Blurring boundaries between gallery, studio and residence, THE RENTAL 2.0 is more than a showcase—it’s a soulful, tactile expression of a brand built on moodboards and memories. A temporary address with a lasting impression.
