Milan-based interior design practice Studio Shoo has completed an innovative retail space in Yerevan, Armenia, seamlessly blending sculptural forms, chrome furniture and vivid colour accents.
Created in collaboration with client Kristina Hunayan, the 144-square-metre store for Estil.io is a carefully curated environment designed to balance functionality with a sense of calm.
Selling a selection of homewares, coffee table books and art objects, Estil.io’s new space was crafted to feel both inviting and flexible, allowing visitors to explore at their leisure. The interior scheme juxtaposes textures and materials, with raw concrete floors meeting smooth plaster walls, while Estil.io’s signature hues of cobalt blue and red punctuate the neutral backdrop.
The store’s design centres around versatility, with tables of varying heights, shapes and colours that enable dynamic product displays. White walls and brown shelving with smooth contouring create a neutral stage, highlighting the individuality of the products while reinforcing Estil.io’s philosophy of naturalness.
A striking focal point is the reception desk, featuring a sweeping stainless steel ribbon that twists from ceiling to floor. This sculptural element not only defines the space but also supports circular walls and shelving, drawing the eye from both the entrance and the windows. “We picked stainless steel to make the twisting bar because of its effective interaction with the interior’s surrounding space,” explains Studio Shoo founder Shushana Khachatrian. “The bar’s smooth, twisted style conveys a sense of lightness, as if it weighs nearly nothing and is in motion.”
Adding to the store’s inviting atmosphere, the reception desk incorporates a bar where visitors can order refreshments. Adjacent to this, a lounge area with a coffee table, armchairs and a sofa provides a comfortable setting for customers to relax and immerse themselves in the store’s curated collection.
Through a careful interplay of sculptural design, bold accents and adaptable furnishings, Studio Shoo has created a retail space that is both visually striking and effortlessly functional, aligning seamlessly with Estil.io’s brand identity.
